It’s fascinating to see Bad Bunny once again redefining what Latin music means on the global stage — and honestly, I can’t help but wonder: when did America stop truly enjoying Latin music? Because with an artist like Bad Bunny still dominating charts, breaking boundaries, and earning Grammy nominations across major categories, it’s clear the world hasn’t stopped listening — maybe it’s just catching up again.
Three years after Un Verano Sin Ti made history as the first Spanish-language album ever nominated for Album of the Year, Bad Bunny’s latest masterpiece, Debí Tirar Más Fotos (“I Should Have Taken More Photos”), has earned him the same honor once more. Even more impressive, its title track picked up Record of the Year and Song of the Year nods, making him the first Spanish-language artist to appear in all three major Grammy categories in a single year — a feat not seen since Despacito in 2018.
Released January 5 via Rimas Entertainment, the 17-track project dives deep into Puerto Rican folk roots (música jíbara), blending cultural pride, political resistance, and global appeal. The album inspired a massive 31-date residency in Puerto Rico and earned six Grammy nominations, including Best Música Urbana Album, Best Global Music Performance (“EoO”), and Best Album Cover.
Bad Bunny — real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio — continues to celebrate Puerto Rican identity with raw honesty and fearless creativity. “At the peak of my career, I want to show the world who I am, who Puerto Rico is,” he said. And as Debí Tirar Más Fotos dominates this year’s Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations, I’m left wondering — maybe America didn’t stop loving Latin music. Maybe it just needed Bad Bunny to remind us why we fell in love with it in the first place.
